Install SolidCraft

The course works with SolidCraft 0.24 or newer, free and open source. Its answers are checked with 0.24.0: install that one, or any newer release, so your screens and numbers match the lessons.

Plays from YouTube, which then receives your IP address. See the privacy notice.

Video 00: install SolidCraft on a Mac. The video installs 0.22; the steps are the same for 0.24.0 and newer.

macOS (Apple silicon and Intel)

  1. Download solidcraft-0.24.0-macos-universal.dmg.
  2. Open the downloaded file. A window shows SolidCraft.app and the Applications folder.
  3. Drag SolidCraft.app onto Applications.
  4. Open SolidCraft from Launchpad or the Applications folder.
  5. If macOS says it can't check the app, open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway, then open SolidCraft again.

Windows

  1. Download SolidCraft-0.24.0-windows-x64.exe (or the .msi, or the portable .zip, from the release page).
  2. Run it and follow the installer.
  3. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info › Run anyway.

Linux

  1. Download solidcraft-0.24.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage, make it executable (chmod +x on the file) and run it. Debian, Fedora, Flatpak and Snap packages are on the release page.
